About Robb Shirey
In 2009 I had the opportunity to volunteer to photograph the opening ceremonies for Pelotonia. Because I am a cyclist, I had heard of the event but never knew that it had such a great following. While at the opening ceremonies there was a video that was shown to the crowd. The video depicted the effects that cancer had on various riders and non riders. The messages resonated within me and that was the day I decided that I was going to be a rider.
I Photographed Pelotonia 2010 but also participated as a rider. What an amazing experience. I pulled my butt all 180 miles to Athens and back and probably couldn’t have finished without the help of my friend DB. It’s that sort of helping spirit that makes this event such an experience.
I will be riding in Pelotonia 2011 as well as donating my time and skill as a photographer. Please consider donating to my cause and I hope to see you out on the course.
